Senior Fullstack Engineer (f/m/d) – Capacity

Your role
As a Senior Fullstack Engineer (f/m/d) on the Capacity Team, you will utilize technology to ensure that we match the right customer with the appropriate partner, enabling them to ship their goods swiftly and conveniently. In direct connection to Forto’s larger vision, the Capacity Planning and Allocation Team is developing a smarter solution to automatically and efficiently allocate capacity for our partners and customers. The team also collaborates with a wide range of logistics industry experts across trade, operations, allocation, quotation, and invoicing functions.
You will
- Be building routing algorithms, capacity allocation algorithms ingesting live tracking data of ships, trucks, and airplanes to infer meaningful actions on the supply chain
- Be contributing to the frontend development of the user experience related to quote request and generation
- Automating processes to lift the degree of automation from 5% to 90% – killing faxes, emails, and phone calls from logistics once and for all
- Building scalable and extendable event-driven microservice architectures with advanced patterns like CQRS and event sourcing design patterns and many other interesting use cases
- Have 360 degree ownership of your domain, from brainstorming with staff engineers to developing required solutions, from testing all edge cases to presenting at demo, from fixing bugs within their SLAs to operational metrics of relevant services
- Below, are a few more challenges which you will be exposed to when working with our amazing team:
- Lead engineering-wide initiatives, interacting with different teams and stakeholders
- Write concise Architectural Decision Records (ADRs)
- Mentor engineers of different levels
- Continuously improve existing systems, including refactoring of critical components of our platform
What you bring
- 7+ years of industry experience in Software Engineering
- Experience with large scale architectural patterns, event-driven micro-services, well-designed APIs and efficient algorithms
- Strong skills with some of the technologies we use: NodeJS, React, Javascript, Typescript, MongoDB, message queuing systems or Kubernetes
- Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English
- Professional attitude towards software craftsmanship including testing
- A proactive, friendly, and team focused attitude
- A data driven approach to decision making
