Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/d) – Tech Hub

Your role
As a Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/d) in Forto's first Tech Hub in vibrant Istanbul, you will be in close collaboration with a highly competent team in Berlin to disrupt global trade by taking ownership in building and maintaining Forto's software backbone.
You will
- Be actively involved in a team: building and improving quoting and routing algorithms, handling various types of cargo live tracking data, or enabling a high degree of automation
- Be exposed to challenges, such as: leading engineering-wide initiatives, interacting with different teams and stakeholders, and writing concise Architectural Decision Records (ADRs)
- Automating processes to lift the degree of automation from 5% to 90% – killing faxes, emails, and phone calls from logistics once and for all
- Own the full cycle of designing building scalable and extendable event-driven microservice architectures with advanced patterns like CQRS and event sourcing design to help solve very challenging problems we are facing within an evolving domain
- Continuously improve existing systems, including refactoring of critical components of our platform
- Mentor others across the engineering team, explore together, and enable team growth
What you bring
- Proficiency in Computer Science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
- Professional attitude towards software craftsmanship with a good understanding of different types of testing and why TDD is important
- Experience with large scale architectural patterns, event-driven microservices, well-designed APIs and efficient algorithms
- Strong professional experience with some of the backend technologies we use: Node.js, Javascript, Typescript, MongoDB, message queuing systems, AWS or Google Cloud, and Kubernetes
- Critical product thinking, ownership mentality, accountability, and challenging the status quo
- Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English
