Country Manager (f/m/d) Italy

Your role

As Country Manager (f/m/d) you will lead, develop and engage the Italian team across functions. You’ll oversee budgets and foster relationships with clients, partners as well as stakeholders. Drive Forto’s growth in the Italian market by translating the overall strategy to fit the local market and using growth opportunities. Furthermore you will scale and expand seafreight transportation and built our airfreigth transportation in Italy.

You will

  • Align the market strategy with company goals and Forto's business plan
  • Manage market performance, including volumes and gross profit, and ensure high customer engagement
  • Oversee market budget planning and ensure productivity targets are met
  • Represent the market value proposition to customers and support team enablement
  • Lead a cross-functional team and develop, train and enable team members to achieve performance targets
  • Ensure market compliance and handle local management responsibilities
  • Drive profitable growth by overseeing all market aspects, from prospecting to operational excellence
  • Manage the opportunity process, including pricing decisions and gross profit adjustments
  • Set and control country targets for teams and individuals while ensuring alignment with overall goals
  • Develop and manage regional team leadership as well as grow the teams according to market growth
  • Oversee commercial development at the country level, ensuring sales performance management and adherence to sales processes

What you bring 

  • Extensive experience in leading, developing and building a solid structure of cross-functional teams as well as regional management
  • Strong commercial capabilities paired with strategic thinking and the ability to derive actions from overall missions
  • Track of record in building functional and scalable processes to drive business growth
  • In-depth knowledge of the Italian market in freight forwarding
  • Best-in-class customer success and customer retention practices
  • Hands-on approach, a pragmatic way of thinking and data-driven mindset
  • Very good communication skills to drive and advocate Forto’s culture and business internally within the teams and externally in the market and with stakeholders by taking the role as ambassador
  • Strong sense of collaboration within leadership teams and functional leaders 
  • Fluent Italian language skills and very good English language skills
