Senior Fullstack Engineer (f/m/d)

Your role
As a Senior Backend / Fullstack Engineer (f/m/d) in the FinTech team at Forto's first Tech Hub in vibrant Istanbul, you will be in close collaboration with a highly competent team in Berlin, and be responsible for building and maintaining Forto's invoice management and automation system. This system will handle invoices for both incoming and outgoing shipments across all entities within Forto.
You will
- Play an instrumental role in the foundation of the Tech Hub, in close collaboration with our Berlin teams, while driving the cultivation of a robust engineering culture in Istanbul.
- Drive automation efforts to eliminate the need for faxes, emails, and phone calls in logistics, enabling Forto employees to focus on meaningful tasks instead of manual work.
- Take an active role in a collaborative team environment, taking ownership of the entire software development cycle. This includes designing, building, and maintaining highly scalable and robust solutions. You will also continuously enhance existing systems, including critical component refactoring.
- Explore and implement cutting-edge software design patterns to tackle the complex challenges we encounter within the ever-evolving domain of FinTech.
- Engage in various challenges, such as leading engineering-wide initiatives, collaborating with different teams and stakeholders, and documenting concise Architectural Decision Records (ADRs).
- Mentor and support fellow engineers in their growth, while also seeking out new challenges for personal and team development.
What you bring
- Proficiency in most of the backend technologies we utilize, including NodeJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, MongoDB, message queuing systems, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with multiple databases, both relational and non-relational, and the ability to choose and apply the appropriate database paradigm based on specific use cases.
- Familiarity with any cloud provider is advantageous.
- A professional approach to software craftsmanship, with a deep understanding of various testing methodologies and the significance of Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Hands-on experience in developing distributed backend applications to address complex challenges such as data consistency, quality, latency, and availability.
- Optional experience in front-end technologies is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
